4 SEPTEMBER 2018 AT 18:00 IN THE RYKMENTINPUISTO DINING HALL, BUILDING 48, RYKMENTINTIE,
In 2017, an art programme was created for Rykmentinpuisto in Tuusula, and we are now looking for artists to implement the programme. Central themes in the programme include public space and passageways.
The walking and cycling route that runs through the Rykmentinpuisto area is a central element for the whole area. Works of art placed along the route will also invite people living outside the local area to use it. In the future, as construction work in Rykmentinpuisto continues, the Baana route will run through the area, toward Kerava and the public transport connections available there.
Route will be divided into three distinct sections, each with their own characteristics. Specific art will be designated for each section, and together, the sections will create a versatile entity. The initial overall budget for the art along the Baana route is around EUR 600,000.
The call for artists and the sites included in the programme will be presented at an open briefing. We are looking for three artists or groups of artists to produce all the art for the Baana area. Artists will be asked to produce certain material and, based on this material, Curator Anne Meskanen-Barman will select a group of artists for more detailed interviews. At the briefing, artists and members of the public will have the opportunity to discuss the programme with the programme leaders.
Pekka Jylhä was asked to create artwork entitled Auringonsilta for the Rykmentinpuisto area, by the side of the Rykmentinpuistotie bridge that leads to the site of the 2020 Housing Fair. A scale model of this artwork will be presented at the briefing. The artist will be there to talk about his work.
